Comment from a Parent
The aim is to strengthen the families by building up their protective factors and teaching them positive parenting techniques.
By providing a nurturing and protective environment we ensure the health and wellbeing of children. We offer communication and conflict resolution skills aimed at building better relationships between the parents and their children, friends, and teachers.
We teach parents to avoid problem behaviours and harsh disciplining techniques at home by using alternative parenting strategies.
The program focuses on changing behaviour and is delivered in groups to allow families to learn from each other and solve problems. Parents and caregivers learn to engage each other on dealing with problem situations.
The children come straight from school and are fed a hot, cooked meal supplied by our feeding scheme, which for some of these child is the only nutritious meal that they will have that day.
We engage with safety supervisors and workers in safe houses, parents in the community, problem children, in Schools, Organizations and within the community.
Our sessions are delivered in groups, or one on one.
COMPUTER PROGRAMS
The provision of accessible, affordable, rudimentary computer literacy courses.
Digital skills are becoming essential for the jobs of today and tomorrow. From digital literacy to computer science education, these skills can open the door to greater economic opportunity in the workplace of the future. Digital literacy is perhaps the most necessary competency for success in tomorrow’s workplace. This is the ability to work with, and extract information from, various digital platforms. These include online search, email, and social media, as well as your typical daily use software like word processing.
These skills are beyond the reach of too many young people. We are working to empower all youth to imagine and realise their full potential by connecting them with greater opportunities for education, employment, and entrepreneurship. Our initiative achieves this through unique programs and partnerships with governments, business and by partnering with other organisations.
These new technologies will not only make businesses more efficient while unlocking innovation and new solutions. Most importantly, they will also create new jobs.
The comprehensive course material for all facets of this training, as endorsed by MICTSETA prescribed procedures, also available in separate literature, are followed to the letter in all our classes to ensure compliance and successful moderation of all participants.
The recruitment of the participants, at the Secondary schools, is a matter best delegated to the respective Schools Management Teams, comprising the principals and their collective Head of Departments. The chosen students will utilise the Certification going forward.
MATHEMATICS AND PHYSICAL SCIENCE
Providing Academic Support - Mathematics and Physical Science, to underprivileged students in Grade 11 & 12 in the Community of ATLANTIS
Our purpose is to provide accessible Mathematics and Physical Science to the disadvantaged to students in the community of Atlantis and surrounding areas in the Atlantis and the Western Cape.
We target a specific section of the community, in this case Grade 11 & Grade 12 learners, where the need for tutoring, is becoming a prerequisite for supporting the learners and preparing them for their final exams.
Learners find it difficult to remain focused. There was a vast scope of work scope due to the closure of the schools which put immense pressure on the learners.
Our Facilitators ensure that participants feel comfortable and relaxed, that they do not feel intimidated or threatened, and that they are interested and engaged.
Our Mathematics and Physical Science Facilitators assist Learners with one-on-one sessions or group sessions, covering various Mathematics and Science Topics. By aiding the learners, we are endeavouring to help them cope by alleviating the stress the pressure of exams will bring and thereby possibly preventing mental breakdown.
Our Facilitators are great in the field. Their passion for Mathematics and Physical Science comes from their love of Mechatronics Engineering which earned them 6 distinctions in Engineering Mathematics at the University of Stellenbosch.
The outcome will be groups of 15-30 and one on one sessions are available.
